The California Department of Justice now accepts the instructor credential of NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home as meeting the requirements to apply for DOJ CCW Instructor. 

 

To be eligible to attend a Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor course, a candidate must already be a certified Pistol and Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor (PPIH) Instructor.​

Successful completion of this week's Pistol and Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor Series satisfies these two prerequisites.  ​

​

We are also offering both Basic and Instructor Personal Protection Outside the Home coursework June 2-5, 2025.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

• Handgun (9mm or .38 caliber or larger).  Full size or compact recommended. 

• 2 magazines minimum

• 200 rounds ammo for Pistol

• 200 rounds ammo for PPITH

• Closed toe shoes

• Eye protection

• Electronic hearing protection (must be amplified).  We recommend Howard Leight or Walkers.

• Brimmed hat

• Notepad, pen and highlighter

• Laptop with charger

• Folding chair (optional)

• Sack Lunch

We will provide complimentary coffee, breakfast snacks and bottled water.

Monday, May 19, 2025 – NRA Basic Instructor Training 8am-3pm

Tuesday, May 20, 2025 - Basic Pistol 8am-5pm

Wednesday, May 21, 2025 - Pistol Instructor 8am-5pm

Thursday, May 22, 2025 - Basic Personal Protection Inside the Home 8am-6pm

​

Friday, May 23, 2025 - Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor 8am-6pm
